Relationship diversity

Are you happy in your relationship and curious about more freedom? What would help you become more fully yourself, and thrive? Do your relationships, whatever their design, keep following the same pattern? Could openness make your relationship more fulfilling? Are you questioning the ideology of monogamy, and the ways it’s been used to control us, especially women?!

All relationship conversations are welcome.

I’ve lived in monogamous and non-monogamous relationships, so I understand what it takes to make both work. I’m open and non-judgemental about all the ways we, as humans, choose to be with each other. Monogamy is a beautiful choice when it’s made consciously, rather than because we’ve been conditioned into it.

People come to me with jealousy, polyamory, opening up or closing a relationship, new connections and endings, mismatched desire, kink, or how to parent within the relationships they have. Whatever your relationships look like, so much comes down to how curious you can be about what’s going on inside you, and whether you can say it honestly when it feels exposing. That can be learnt and practised, and it’s a big part of what we’ll do together.

1:1 COACHING

I’ve come to think that very little of how we live is actually decided. We inherit a shape for how a life is meant to go (when to settle, what relationships should look like, who does the caring) and then spend years inside it, taking any discomfort as a sign that something is wrong with us rather than with the shape.

You can bring anything to our sessions: work, family, a crossroads, a sense that something is missing, or your relationships. Nothing is off topic, and it all tends to be connected anyway.

There’s no need to be tidy about any of it. Bring the version you’d struggle to explain at a dinner party, the one that still contradicts itself. That’s usually the honest one, and it’s where I’d like to start.

I’m fully with you in every session, listening, asking questions, and helping you get clear on what you want and what’s been stopping you. I’ll push back when it matters, too, because it’s very hard to see the edges of something you’re living inside. People tend to find me easy to talk to, which helps when you’re saying things you may never have said out loud. My hope is that you leave clearer about what you want, and braver about asking for it.

It’s serious work, but it doesn’t need to be solemn. If we get through six sessions without laughing, one of us is doing it wrong.

Sessions are an hour long, online or in person (if geography allows), and everything we talk about is confidential, within the usual professional limits. I work with individuals.

Jas Crockett Hey I'm Jas

I’ve had four working lives, or five if you count raising children. I started in chemistry, then spent years in surgery as a surgical care practitioner, in theatre with my hands in. After that came freelance creative work, and now I’m back in training.

I left surgery when I was pregnant with my first child. I arranged a three-year break instead of the usual one and told myself I was keeping my options open, although really I’d already decided and hadn’t admitted it to myself. By the time those three years were up I had a second child and a much clearer answer. Change often happens like that, after years of knowing something before you’re ready to say it. None of those working lives were wasted.

I’ve been with my partner for 26 years, and for the last eight we’ve been non-monogamous while raising our children. Opening our relationship has been the biggest self-development project of my life, and it’s been mind-blowing. It’s brought deep self-understanding, and taught me how to navigate conflict and do real repair afterwards. It’s also been loads of fun.

I’m neurodivergent, which is probably why I’ve never been able to accept a rule just because it’s a rule. I’m political too. I’m working to decolonise my own thinking, and I’m interested in how we internalise systems of oppression until they feel like our own beliefs, including our beliefs about how to love.

I’m in the final year of a postgraduate training in psychosynthesis counselling. What I offer now is coaching, not counselling or therapy. As part of my training I’m in regular supervision, I’ve had several years of my own therapy, and if what you need is something other than what I offer, I’ll tell you and help you find it.

WORKSHOPS

Some things are easier to explore in company. My workshops are small, relaxed gatherings where we sit in a circle and talk honestly about things most of us have never had the space to talk about. You’re welcome to come on your own, with a partner, or with partners.

The Chalet on Hampton Court Road, a tall carved wooden chalet with balconies, set in a garden of bamboo and lawn

A day for anyone curious about how relationships could work, whether you’re already non-monogamous, thinking about it, or happily monogamous and interested in why. We’ll look at the stories we’ve absorbed about how relationships are meant to go, and at what becomes possible when we start choosing for ourselves.

Over the day we’ll talk about:

  • the rules we were handed, and which ones we actually want to keep
  • the many forms relationships can take
  • jealousy, and what it might be telling you
  • asking for what you want, and hearing what others want
  • conflict, and how to repair afterwards

You won’t be asked to share more than you want to, and what’s said in the circle stays there. Expect great company, a fair bit of laughter, and a real sense of how much more is possible.

From 3pm to 5pm, we can stay in conversation more informally, with drinks, letting what came up during the day land, in this stunning setting.
